Day 13
Bad Ideas
The Bad Ideas exercise is a dynamic and transformative tool that ignites the spark of innovation within individuals and teams. By intentionally exploring ideas that might seem crazy or impossible, this exercise creates a unique space for unrestricted thinking and unleashes the untapped potential of unconventional ideas.[1]
How it works
- Set the timer for 3 minutes by clicking the start button.
- Create a list of objectively unfavorable concepts.
- Assign yourself an idea from the list, like “Pickle-Flavored Lip Balm:” or “Onion-Flavored Toothpaste.”
- Give yourself three minutes to discuss all the potential benefits, uses, and selling points for the assigned object.
- Have yourself “sell” the object to group of people.
Importance
The Bad Ideas activity encourages a playful mindset by intentionally exploring ideas that are intentionally unconventional or seemingly "bad." This playful approach fosters a sense of curiosity, openness, and freedom to think beyond traditional boundaries. It allows you to let go of self-imposed limitations and encourages you to take risks and embrace the joy of experimentation. By embracing play, we tap into our creative well and unleash our imaginative capacity.
