Day 13
Bad Ideas

The Bad Ideas exercise is a dynamic and transformative tool that ignites the spark of innovation within individuals and teams. By intentionally exploring ideas that might seem crazy or impossible, this exercise creates a unique space for unrestricted thinking and unleashes the untapped potential of unconventional ideas.[1]

How it works

  1. Set the timer for 3 minutes by clicking the start button.
  2. Create a list of objectively unfavorable concepts.
  3. Assign yourself an idea from the list, like “Pickle-Flavored Lip Balm:” or “Onion-Flavored Toothpaste.”
  4. Give yourself three minutes to discuss all the potential benefits, uses, and selling points for the assigned object.
  5. Have yourself “sell” the object to group of people.

Importance

The Bad Ideas activity encourages a playful mindset by intentionally exploring ideas that are intentionally unconventional or seemingly "bad." This playful approach fosters a sense of curiosity, openness, and freedom to think beyond traditional boundaries. It allows you to let go of self-imposed limitations and encourages you to take risks and embrace the joy of experimentation. By embracing play, we tap into our creative well and unleash our imaginative capacity.
